2015 was the year the Croatian capital was voted Best European Christmas Destination. Having personally visited the country capital during advent I speak from experience when I say it is a unique, exciting event, not to be missed, especially if in the area. Every corner of the city exudes the holiday spirit, the smell of cinnamon, freshly baked cookies and mulled wine lingering in the air creating the perfect Christmas fairy tale-like atmosphere.

2016 is the year that the city decided to defend this prestigious title, enriching the existent diverse offer of winter and Christmas related activities with some new and innovative ones.

Along with the Ice Park – the biggest ice skating rink in this part of Europe, creative cultural and gastronomic project known as Fuliranje (”Fooling around”), live Nativity Scene in the Upper Town Zagreb, advent related activities on most bigger squares of the city and the Christmas Fair, new venues and exciting projects have been introduced into this Year’s program.

Christmas Cake and Cookie festival is the first on the list of novelties – an event where the main stars are the masters of cake making who will present their sweet Christmas assortment, with workshops and tasting zones for the visitors, live music with Christmas tea parties and additional special surprises.

The Ice Sculpture exhibit – another novelty including a fascinating work of art being created from multiple ice blocks thanks to the impressive skills of a talented sculptor.

The visitors of this year’s Christmas Zagreb will also have a chance to experience the Christmas spirit of the old Zagreb through an antiques fair, lectures, small Christmas jewelry and old Advent postcards exhibit, a gastro day, a lecture with movies’ screening, music program and Christmas jewelry making workshop.
